BMC Recalls Bikes with Malfunctioning Forks

Bicycle manufacturer BMC has produced quality bikes for years. However recently, they discovered problems with forks on a large number of their models. According to www.recalls.gov, they have immediately recalled malfunctioning bike forks on the following models:

  • Alpenchallenge AC0105
  • Tiagra MY2012/2013
  • Alpenchallenge AC01
  • River Model MY2012/2013
  • Urbanchallenge UC01
  • Afine 11 MY2012/2013
  • Mass Challenge MC01
  • Team MY2012

All models listed were recalled as of July 18, 2013. If the fork fails, it can lead to loss of control of the bicycle and potentially cause serious bodily injuries. These models were sold nationwide at numerous authorized BMC dealers. BMC has advised that the rider should stop using the bicycle immediately and contact a local dealer to replace the fork, receive a full refund, or await further BMC inspection as more information is discovered.
