TAMPA— A driver of a vehicle was killed in the early hours of Sunday morning in a collision with a party bus on the Courtney Campbell Parkway, Tampa police report. The fatal accident was reported in the Tampa Bay Times. Lt. Brian Gant, a spokesperson for the Tampa Police Department, said the crash happened around 3:30 AM at a stoplight near a boat ramp past the Tampa Shriners Hospital on the Courtney Campbell Causeway. The vehicle was turning from the boat ramp on the south side of the parkway to go west toward Clearwater. The party bus, which had no passengers at the time, was heading east toward Tampa when it struck the turning vehicle, according to Gant.
The vehicle’s driver was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital and died there. Neither driver’s identity has been released. It is not known if the bus driver was injured. Police are investigating to determine which vehicle had the green light when the crash occurred.
