Motorcyclist, 71, Killed in Sarasota Hit and Run Crash

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the driver of a silver 1999-2000 Honda Accord sedan who caused the death of a 71-year-old motorcyclist in Sarasota, July 12, 2014. The Bradenton Herald reported the fatal crash happened about 10:15 a.m. when the motorcycle rider was hit from the rear while entering Bee Ridge Road from the Lockwood Ridge Road intersection. The driver left after reportedly dragging the motorcyclist’s bike around 250 feet.

Our thoughts are with the victim’s family, who are begging for the motorist to come forward. It is absolutely cowardly for anyone to cause an accident and not stay to face the consequences of their actions. Tragically, over 70,000 Florida drivers do this a year, causing the deaths of over 15,000 innocent Floridians.

Law enforcement believes the at-fault driver in the accident was “a female in her 40s with long dark hair.” They also report the vehicle should have front-end damage from the crash. If you have any information about crash or the driver, please do the right thing and call FHP at (239) 938-1800.
