Man Receives DUI Citation in Clearwater After Accident Involving Jolley Trolley

November 23, 2011 – Clearwater, Fla. – A man was charged with DUI involving property damage on Saturday, November 19, after his car hit the Jolley Trolley and another vehicle.

WTSP reports that the accident happened on the Memorial Causeway. According to Police, a vehicle had pulled out of the beach and began traveling eastbound on the causeway at a high rate of speed. The vehicle then sideswiped the Jolley Trolley, causing the vehicle’s driver to lose control and send the vehicle across the median and into the westbound lanes, where it crashed into another car head-on.

The vehicle’s driver, Amir Mevlud Iljazy, 28, of Tampa, has been charged with DUI involving property damage. He was arrested and booked into the Pinellas County jail Saturday night.

Iljazy had been bonded out of jail pending trial as of Sunday morning.

There has been no word on whether or not the drivers of the other vehicles involved were injured in the crash.
