If you are looking for a new place to ride, check out Magnolia Trail at 10500 Wilderness Park Blvd in North Port Richey. It is the county’s first off-road mountain bike trail.
Last year volunteers worked with SWAMP (South West Association of Mountain Bike Pedalers) using hand tools and small machinery to clear a shady path for the trail. It was a true community effort.
The trail was designed to be ideal for easy mountain biking, with lots of twists and turns to challenge riders but few elevation changes. Just last month, over 100 riders participated in the inaugural ride through the seven-mile trail. It is now open to the public.
If you are interested in volunteering to help maintain the trail, SWAMP hosts trail work days on the third Saturdays of most months. For more information about this and other trails, visit www.swampclub.org. We hope to see you there!
