A Pregnant Pedestrian & Her Unborn Child were Killed in Sarasota

A pregnant pedestrian and her unborn child were killed on Sunday in Sarasota as she crossed Swift Road near Hope Street, at about 8:25 p.m., the Florida Highway Patrol reports. This is the second fatality at this location in less than four months. The woman was crossing west when she stepped into the path of a northbound Dodge Ram truck. She died at the scene.

The driver of the truck was charged with driving under the influence, according to FHP.

A hit-and-run driver struck and killed a Sarasota man on August 31 on Swift Road at Austin Street, just a block south of where the Sunday’s accident took place.
