Recall of Trek Bicycle Models Due to Malfunctioning Fork

Trek Bicycles have issued a voluntary safety recall of the following 2009 models:

  • 2009 Trek 7300
  • 7300 WSD
  • 7500 fork

According to www.worldofbikes.com, there was a reported issue with an SPA suspension fork that was assembled incorrectly on certain Trek models. This problem seemed to cause the fork to come out of the proper alignment with the handlebars while riding, allowing the front of the wheel to turn unexpectedly.

Trek bicycle owners with fork numbers listed above are advised to visit an authorized Trek dealer to inspect the problem. The company has advised bringing the bike in so they may perform a recall check and any necessary repairs. An authorized Trek dealer will inspect it and offer a free replacement. They warn cyclists not to ride their bikes until the check has been done. This fork malfunction is potentially dangerous and is not to be taken lightly, since it can lead to harmful bodily injuries.

Recall information is provided as a public service by avid cyclist and Florida bicycle lawyer Jim Dodson. If you've experienced a bicycle component failure and have questions about a potential claim against a bicycle manufacturer, call 888-207-0905 and get your questions answered.
