Recently, as I perused the internet for valuable tidbit information to share, an article on e-bikes caught my eye. It discussed the current meteoric rise of ebikes both worldwide and here in the United States. For starters, did you know that nearly 400,000 ebikes were sold in the U.S. last year? For comparison, Tesla sold 367,500 cars over the same time period.
In fact, Deloitte, in its 2019 annual technology, media, and telecommunications predictions, projected ebike sales to top 40 million bikes per year by 2023. They went on to say that its likely that by the end of next year, there will be more e-bikes on the road than all other e-vehicles combined.
Currently, 28% of ebike purchases are in lieu of a car worldwide. People seem to love the environmentally friendly, low cost option of getting where they need to be, and often without having to fight traffic.
Ebikes will change transportation in the U.S. as we know it. I hope the information I provide on them continues to be as interesting and relevant to you as it is to me. Who knows, I may need to change my name to the Florida eBike Guy…
