900,00 Trek Bikes from the 2000 to the 2015 Models are Being Recalled

Trek is recalling all of its bikes that are equipped with disc brakes and a certain front quick release. This recall affects up to 900,00 bikes from the 2000 to the 2015 models.

The issue with the quick-release is the lever on the QR can swing open wider than 180 degrees from the closed position or more than 90 degrees from the perpendicular to the AR axle. This has the potential to allow the QR lever to fall between the open spacing, causing the whell to stop suddenly, or disconnect from the bike.

If you own one of these Trek bike models, take it to an authorized Trek retailer, where a new quick release will be installed on the front wheel for free. They will also provide $20 coupon toward Bontrager merchandise that is redeemable until the end of the year.

Recall information is provided as a public service by avid cyclist and Florida bicycle lawyer Jim Dodson. If you've experienced a bicycle component failure and have questions about a potential claim against a bicycle manufacturer, call 888-207-0905 and get your questions answered.
