When I was making my initial choice through the trauma of the accident, trying to know where I was going to go next with all the changes I had going on in my life, I had a lot people telling me, why do you want to get an attorney. Why would you need an attorney? Why can't you just go to the insurance company and handle it and make a claim with your insurance company? Well, I could have and I actually did have the other person's insurance company calling me pretty quickly, trying to get me to come in and talk to them and make decisions. When I look back at what they were talking to me about and what I ended up with, not only the care that I received but financially in the end.
I would tell anybody to not try to do it on your own because there were things that came up and opposition the entire way that I never would have imagined if I hadn't gone through the experience of having the support of an attorney. So many things that I learned along the way that I don't regret ever. Making sure that I had a partner and that's really how I felt. I had a partner in this process.
So, I would highly recommend that somebody doesn't try to take it on, particularly when you're sick and you're ill and you're going through all of that and your whole life is still in front of you. To have an expert beside you that's taking care of that for you, it takes away so much of the stress in your life.
And, again I felt that I could trust Jim and I didn't have to follow up. It was just one more thing that I didn't have to deal with in the midst of doctor's appointments and trying to hold on to my job and do all the things that you do everyday in life. So, I have absolutely no regrets with the decision that I made and I would highly recommend anybody to make sure that you speak to an attorney before you speak to the insurance company.
