#1 Medical Malpractice Claim in the United States: Failure to Diagnose a Heart Attack

Video Transcription:
The number one medical malpractice claim in the United States is a failure to diagnose a heart attack. Many of us are accustomed to what we see on TV as a heart attack where someone clutches their chest and falls over. In certain cases, this can happen, however many times the symptoms of a heart attack are more subtle.

Some of the Subtle Symptoms of a Heart Attack:

  • Faintness or light-headedness
  • Shortness of breath
  • Nausea and/or vomiting
  • Pain in the jaw
  • Pain in the left arm and/or left side of the body
  • Chest pain

When a person sees a doctor with these more subtle symptoms of a potential heart attack, it needs to be diagnosed properly and certain tests should be run immediately to make sure what is going on. When these things are not done correctly and the patient suffers a massive heart attack, the consequences, unfortunately can be devastating for the patient. This can create the basis for a claim against the medical facility for not doing what they should have done based on what the patient told them.

Due to the nature of our small practice, we are unable to take every case, but we always strive to connect clients with the right attorney for them. We are happy to set up referrals to other attorneys who may be better suited to assist you.
