There are two main categories for handrails involving accidents in Florida:
- There are building code requirements for handrails. There are requirements on the size and dimension of the handrail itself. There are requirements on how far apart handrails need to be on a staircase. And, there are also requirements on how high they need to be and how far they extend past the last step on a landing.
- Handrails must be maintained. There are cases where part of the handrail might be missing or where they might be loose. All of which need to be properly repaired.
