If you look at the statistics of motorcycle crashes, many of them occur at intersections and many of them are caused by a car turning left into the path of the motorcycle. For whatever reason, cars turning left don't see oncoming motorcycles. This is despite having lights on, being in their lane and even being in clear view during daylight hours.
